Vivation is a way of integrating suppressed feeling, which is a root cause of human suffering. It's simple, effective, and feels good.Positive, permanent changes are possible; Vivation practice enjoyably conditions human beings for healthy, fun, beneficial living. For autistic people -- or anyone -- Viving can reduce sensory overload. You'll gain skill in processing intense feelings, including social anxiety. Alexithymia is commonly comorbid; Vivation naturally improves interoception.Practicing Vivation may resolve difficult mental-emotional conditions, e.g. depression and anxiety, and troubling emotions, such as anger, fear and shame.Even physical pain/stress can become meaningful, or disappear entirely. If you're already happy & fulfilled, life gets even better.Vivation practice benignly offers liberating self-knowledge, and mastery over oneself and life, with wisdom, peace and joy.Face your fear and laugh
Vivation is the ‘Skill of Happiness’. The goal of practice is physical integration of mentally-suppressed (conscious or not) emotions and physical sensations (pain/dysfunction) in the body. The result is blissful healing and healthier, happier living. In 1979, after many years of searching and study, originator Jim Leonard discovered that combining five elements in practice leads to rapid and efficient integration. He called this process ‘Vivation’, and subsequently taught it to thousands of people, including many teachers. The Five Elements
1) Circular breathing. Inhale/exhale are connected; there’s no pause in the breath. In Vivation, we use the breath to amplify or moderate the intensity of sensations.2) Complete relaxation. In the absence of tension/resistance, integration is possible. Analogy; water flows freely through an unkinked hose. Likewise, life energy/consciousness moves freely in a relaxed body.3) Awareness in detail. By focusing on feelings in the body, the mind stills, and thought is bypassed. Without thinking, we can be fully conscious, and acutely aware of ourselves.4) Integration into ecstasy. Inclusion of everything as parts of the whole; being human with full acceptance, and without negative judgment. The experience of being alive is fundamentally wondrous.5) Willingness is enough. This is the one essential element. There’s no ‘wrong’ way to do Vivation; when we’re willing to feel our own feelings honestly, integration naturally occurs. The Three Points to Remember
By 1993, Jim discovered Vivation practice could be simplified with what he called the Three Points to Remember, which, applied well, maintain all five elements together. While viving, we apply all of the 3 points simultaneously, or shift between them, one or two at a time.1) Explore the subtle changes. Sensations may feel ‘stuck’, but this is an illusion. Our bodies are in a constant state of change, and there are tiny or major fluctuations in any and every emotion/pain. All felt sensations, emotional or physical, are patterns of energy in the body.2) Inhale through the strongest feeling. By ‘imagining’ we’re drawing air/energy through whatever feeling is getting our attention, our experience of that sensation changes, the feeling integrates, and we move our attention to another feeling.3) Enjoy this moment as much as you can. When we judge experience/feelings negatively, we feel bad about it, and may believe we feel bad, or we are bad. By noticing we’re not in infinite suffering, or being open to an experience as positive, integration happens.Intellectually, this may all make sense to you, and you may have positive results practicing on your own. However, you will gain the best understanding and skill by studying and practicing with a certified Vivation teacher.Jim passed in 2008, but his Vivation legacy lives on through his top student, Paul Hughes, who inherited his IP and runs Vivation.com.

I first learned Vivation in 2001, from discoverer-founder Jim Leonard. I was diagnosed Autistic in 2018, at age 50.I’ve completed Vivation teacher training with both Jim Leonard, and his leading student, Paul Hughes. After many years of practice and exploration, I created Positive Vive and Vive Autism in 2025 to serve humankind with information and instruction in Vivation.I’ll accept any willing student interested in learning Vivation, but as an Autistic person, I’m uniquely positioned to help others on the Autism spectrum.
